With Riftbound: Unleashed, the third set of the League of Legends Trading Card Game is just around the corner. For Players and Collectors, Set 3 brings not only new cards, but also fresh mechanics, exciting champions, and a new rarity level for the first time. If you want to know what to expect, when the Release is, and which products are worth it, you'll find the complete overview here.
What is Riftbound: Unleashed?
Riftbound Unleashed is the third major set in the Riftbound TCG and builds on the previous expansions. Its themes revolve around hidden strength, tactical timing, and control of the battlefield. The motto “Power strikes from the shadows” is a perfect fit.
The focus is on dynamic plays where you cleverly build up your resources and strike at just the right moment. If you enjoy playing strategically or like complex board states, this set is likely to be a particular favorite.
With over 220 cards and more than 30 alternate artworks, Unleashed offers plenty of new material for both deck builders and Collectors. At the same time, the set noticeably expands the gameplay experience with new tokens and mechanics.

New Mechanics in Unleashed
One of the key highlights of Riftbound Set 3 is its new gameplay mechanics. They noticeably change the game and add more depth to every match.
XP – The New Resource
XP is the set’s most important new feature. You can build up this resource during the game and use it for powerful effects. At the same time, XP affects the level of many cards.
This gives your decisions more weight in the long run. You have to weigh whether to use XP immediately or save it for future power plays.
Hunt – Control Brings Progress
With Hunt, you generate XP by capturing or holding a Battlefield. This rewards active play and map control.
Aggressive or tempo-oriented decks benefit in particular. Dominating the battlefield also rewards you with additional resources.
Ambush – Surprise Attacks
Ambush brings a new kind of reaction to the game. You can play certain units directly as a response to a Battlefield where you are already present.
This opens up entirely new possibilities for counterplay and creates unexpected twists. In close matches, Ambush can make all the difference.
These Champions Take Center Stage
The champions also bring plenty of fan service in Riftbound Unleashed. Several well-known League of Legends characters take center stage in the set. These include:
- Diana
- Vi
- Pyke
- Kha’Zix
- Lillia
- Ivern
Kha’Zix is particularly exciting, as he is closely tied to the XP mechanic. This shows just how closely gameplay and champion design are intertwined.
The set also makes a strong visual impression. The artwork highlights Vi, Rengar, Master Yi, and LeBlanc, among others. This gives Unleashed a strong Jungle and assassin vibe that perfectly matches the game mechanics.
New Tokens and Game Elements
Unleashed expands not only the card pool, but also the overall gameplay experience with new tokens and Marker, such as Bird Tokens, XP trackers, Reflections, Brush Tokens, and the Baron Pit.
These elements add extra interactions to the board and make matches even more dynamic. The Baron Pit Token is particularly interesting, as it brings Baron Nashor directly into play.
For you, that means a better overview, but also more strategic options. The board gets much more complex, especially in longer matches.

The Vault - the new hybrid product

Why Baron Nashor matters to Collectors
Probably the biggest highlight for Collectors is the introduction of Ultimate Rarity. This rarity tier makes its debut with Unleashed.
The first card in this category is Baron Nashor. It is a so-called overnumbered card, appearing in fewer than one percent of Booster packs.
For you, that means:
- extremely low pull rate
- high collector value
- strong long-term potential
Especially if you’re interested in rare cards or investments, you should keep an eye on this. Ultimate Rares could play a similar role in the long term to Chase Cards in other TCGs.
