Magic: The Gathering Lorwyns Finsternis at a glance
Magic: The Gathering Lorwyns Finsternis is the German edition of Lorwyn Eclipsed and was released on January 23, 2026. The set returns to Lorwyn and Shadowmoor, two opposing sides of the same plane, home to elves, fae, kithkin, boggarts, merfolk, and elementals. If you'd like to explore products in both languages together, you'll find them in our Lorwyn Eclipsed & Lorwyns Finsternis Collection.
Lorwyn and Shadowmoor between light and darkness
The set's central theme is the contrast between bright Lorwyn and dark Shadowmoor. Transforming cards and different illustrations directly reflect this change. Players encounter familiar creature types and characters from the original Lorwyn era, while new cards continue the plane's story. If you prefer the international card names, you'll find the English edition at Magic: The Gathering Lorwyn Eclipsed.
Vivid, Blight, and returning mechanics
Lorwyns Finsternis combines new mechanics with familiar elements from the original Lorwyn and Shadowmoor sets. Vivid rewards you for having different colors among your permanents, while Blight works with -1/-1 counters on your own creatures. Changeling, Evoke, and Persist also return. This gives the expansion both nostalgic touchpoints and new possibilities for Deck building, Draft, and Constructed.
