Magic: The Gathering Lorwyns – Return to Lorwyn and Shadowmoor
Magic: The Gathering Lorwyn Eclipsed was released on January 23, 2026, and returns to the beloved plane of Lorwyn and its dark counterpart, Shadowmoor. The expansion combines the colorful world of eternal day with the mysterious atmosphere of eternal night and brings back familiar creature types such as Elves, Merfolk, Kithkin, Boggarts, and Elementals. You can find English products under Magic: The Gathering Lorwyn Eclipsed, while the German edition is available as Magic: The Gathering Lorwyns Finsternis.
Lorwyn and Shadowmoor on a shared plane
The set’s central theme is the contrast between Lorwyn and Shadowmoor. Characters and locations can shift between their light and dark sides, which is also represented by transforming double-faced cards. In this way, Lorwyn Eclipsed builds on the story of the original Lorwyn and Shadowmoor sets and develops it further with modern card mechanics. Fans of typal strategies in particular will find numerous cards featuring the plane’s familiar creature types.
Vivid and Blight as New Gameplay Mechanics
With Vivid and Blight, Lorwyn Eclipsed introduces two new mechanics. Vivid rewards you for controlling permanents of as many different colors as possible, while Blight uses -1/-1 counters on your own creatures to trigger additional effects. These mechanics are joined by returning elements such as Changeling, Evoke, and transforming double-faced cards. This lets the set combine nostalgic Lorwyn strategies with new possibilities for Deck building and Limited.
Lorwyn Eclipsed Displays in English and German
For larger openings, there are various Booster boxes to choose from. The Lorwyn Eclipsed Play Booster Box – English contains 30 English-language Play Boosters. If you prefer German-language cards, you can choose the Lorwyns Finsternis Play Booster Box – German instead. Both options are great for opening, drafting and playing Sealed, or as a sealed product for your own Magic collection.
Lorwyn Eclipsed Commander decks with two strategies
Two Commander precons with different focuses were released for Lorwyn Eclipsed. The Dance of the Elements Commander Deck – English focuses on Elementals and Evoke, while Blight Curse leans more heavily into the darker side of Shadowmoor and -1/-1 counters. Both decks contain 100 ready-to-play cards and are suitable as a direct introduction to Commander or as a foundation for future upgrades.
Collector Booster and the serialized Bitterbloom Bearer
Collector Booster are especially appealing to Collectors of exceptional foils, showcase designs, and borderless cards. A special highlight of Lorwyn Eclipsed is Bitterbloom Bearer, featuring an illustration by Rebecca Guay: only 500 serialized versions exist, and they can only be found in Collector Boosters. If you're looking for larger premium openings, you'll find more options among Magic: The Gathering Collector Displays and other Booster boxes.
Lorwyn Eclipsed Bundle as a compact way to get started with the set
The Magic: The Gathering Lorwyn Eclipsed Bundle – English combines several Play Booster packs with lands, Accessories, and a Storage Box. This places the Bundle between individual boosters and a full Booster Display, making it ideal for Players who want to explore the set in more depth without opening an entire Booster Box right away. The different product formats make it possible to discover Lorwyn Eclipsed in a way that suits your collecting or gameplay goals.
Collecting Lorwyn Eclipsed and Lorwyns Finsternis
Whether you collect Lorwyn Eclipsed in English or Lorwyns Finsternis in German depends primarily on your preferred card language. Both editions feature the same themes surrounding Lorwyn, Shadowmoor, and the plane’s typal strategies. If you’re looking to discover a modern Magic set with a completely different setting after returning to this classic fantasy world, Magic: The Gathering Edge of Eternities offers a striking contrast with space fantasy, spaceships, and alien planets.
